Tour eight unique gardens located in the Hollywood Riviera. There will also be educational booths, a Plant Doctor to answer your questions and refreshments.

The eight tour gardens were chosen for their uniqueness and variety. Take a peek behind the gates of a lush Mediterranean garden with an unusual sand-ring firepit; a designer’s dream at a seaside hacienda with impeccable landscaping and terraced gardens to the Pacific; an original Red tiled roof historic home, part of the original Hollywood Riviera seaside development of the 1930’s; bone up on water-wise gardening at the newly remodeled environmental home; enjoy the city view at the terraced dry-stream landscape and appreciate the hillside challenge homeowners’ turned into a three-tiered water fall and visit a small and charming colorful romantic hideaway, a sought-after wedding site. A Riviera Garden Club member will host the hospitality house – check out the lovely boy and girl garden seat statue in the front yard; a succulent garden, gorgeous bonsais and Japanese maples.

Experts will be available at the “Hospitality House” to demonstrate succulent gardening, geranium propagation and flower arranging.. Also, see a demonstration of “lasagna gardening” – a layered approach to growing in difficult places The Riviera Garden Club’s Advanced California Certified Nursery Professional, Diane Connell, will also be available to give landscape and plant advice and answer questions.

About the club

Founded in 1957, The Riviera Garden Club is an association of amateur gardeners who further their knowledge of gardening and the environment. We have speakers on garden topics at our meetings and take tours to gardens. There are also monthly reports from our Advanced California Certified Nursery Professional. The objectives of the Riviera Garden Club are to mentor youth, to educate, increase interest in gardening, plant and bird life, conservation of all natural resources, and the beautification of our city.   Currently the club has 40 active members, 11 associate members, and 10 honorary members.

Regular Meetings are held from September to November, and January through May, on the fourth Tuesday of each month, at 9:30am. The meeting starts with socializing at 9:30am, followed by the business meeting at 10:00am and the speaker at 11am. The regular meetings are held at the Torrance Airport General Aviation Center Meeting Room, unless tours are planned. Meetings of the board of directors are held the same months and the same time as the regular meetings, on the third Tuesday of each month. The board of directors meetings are held in members’ homes.

Riviera Garden Club members are also members of Costa Verde District , the California State Garden Clubs , Inc., and National Garden Clubs , Inc., through their membership dues.
